Okay, so this blog is not one where I actively want people to check out. I'm not trying to get people's attention. Check it out if you want to. I'm just trying out a new way to keep track of what I eat because there's always room for improvement. People have said that if you keep food journals, you'll become more aware of what you eat and consequently pick healthier and more properly proportioned meals. I've made food/physical activity journals for classes before to get an idea of my energy intake and expenditure, but it's a bit time-consuming for my busy schedule. If that eats up too much of my time, I'm likely to eventually stop that practice. So, here I am setting up a blog with pictures of what I eat. I'll be trying to take a picture of what I eat for meals and snacks. My rule is to eat no more than what's in the pictures. No seconds unless it's veggies/fruits/water. No, I'm not trying to lose weight; just merely eat healthier so I can avoid clogging my arteries and cancer, increase stamina, ... just to feel better overall.
So, that said, I don't expect people to religiously keep up on my blog. In fact, I don't expect anyone to keep up with it. If it merely amuses you, go ahead and keep up with it. I'm not trying to impose my lifestyle or my desired lifestyle on anyone, but if anything, I hope it helps others become more aware of what they eat and to join me in striving for a healthier lifestyle. I know, everyone has their moments where they break away from what they want. That's okay; that's completely normal. I'll (or we'll, if you'd like) just go back to my (or our) plan.
Moreover, if you see a dish that I made and want to try it, you can ask me to make it for you sometime, especially when I'm back home (LA, ahh it's coming soon). For health reasons, I don't add salt to my dishes. High blood pressure and diabetes run in the family, so I'd like to avoid that. It's better to start now rather than try to change habits when it's too late. My mom took a food preparation class to find ways to make healthier dishes, and she found out that if you don't add salt to dishes, add some spices, such as cayenne pepper. That way, you don't sacrifice taste. In my dishes, you'll see that I love bell peppers, onions, garlic, tomatoes (every now and then), lemon, and spices! Yum!
So..... welcome to my blog? Enjoy if you'd like. Feel free to leave some comments. You like it/don't like it. I don't care; I'm not here to impress or please you. If it convinces you to eat healthier and become more active, that'll make me happy. Yay!
